The Astral Wayfinder design reinterprets the traditional nautical star and compass motif into a fluid, interconnected geometric emblem. Rooted in maritime history as a symbol of safe passage and guidance, this modernized variation introduces subtle curvature and an integrated outer halo, transforming a classic navigational tool into a contemporary focal point.
Crafted through precision laser-cutting techniques, the design relies on a continuous network of metal lines that define both the central eight-pointed star and the surrounding architectural framework. The generous use of negative space allows the underlying wall color to integrate seamlessly into the composition. Mounted with offset hardware, the piece projects from the wall, casting crisp, dynamic shadows that enhance its structural depth and visual complexity.
Curator’s Note: Navigational motifs have long served as powerful symbols of direction, purpose, and exploration. By softening the rigid angles of a standard compass rose with webbed, stained-glass-like geometry, this artwork offers a transitional aesthetic that complements both coastal environments and modern minimalist interiors.
