Scrollwork Cipher Panel
Scrollwork Cipher Panel

This design reads as a typographic abstraction: bold, architectural letter-like blocks are fused with flowing scrollwork, creating a high-contrast panel that feels part monogram, part ornamental cipher. The dialogue between rigid geometry and curling movement gives it a modern–vintage energy reminiscent of decorative signage and Art Nouveau line rhythm.
A graphic panel of letterforms and curls is shaped into a visual riddle where structure and ornament share the same breath. Hard edges suggest language and order, while the spiraling flourishes introduce motion, turning typography into atmosphere rather than literal reading.
The design is translated into powder coated metal through thick, confident cut areas that preserve the panel’s bold contrast. The scrollwork is engineered as continuous curves with clean negative space, while the block elements maintain sharp corners and strong visual weight. The 1.5 cm offset mount enhances depth as shadows trace the curls and emphasize the crisp geometry.
Curator’s Note: Ornamental scrollwork has been used for centuries to “animate” lettering in architectural signage and print traditions, where flourishes function as visual cadence—making meaning feel physical even when the text becomes abstract.
