Where Tides Remember captures a moment of quiet solitude: a siren resting above the surface, suspended between two worlds, listening to the rhythm of the sea beneath her.

The design translates this liminal state into elegant metal linework and fluid negative space. The figure is minimal yet expressive, her posture relaxed, hair and tail echoing the gentle movement of water. The reflective surface below is rendered as abstract ripples, allowing shadows to play across the wall and extend the artwork beyond its physical form. When mounted, the floating offset enhances the illusion of depth, as if the water continues to move long after the piece is still.

Curator’s Note: Mermaids appear in folklore across cultures—from ancient Assyria to coastal Europe—often symbolizing longing, transformation, and the pull between freedom and belonging. Their enduring presence speaks to humanity’s fascination with the unknown.
