Botanical Orbit

A circle has long been used to express continuity, seasons, and return, and botanical forms have been used to symbolize growth through change. In this medallion, leaves and branching lines are arranged like a living orbit—an image of renewal that stays quiet, modern, and timeless.

In metal, the composition is defined through a strong circular boundary that stabilizes the flowing interior shapes. Leaf cutouts and curved channels are formed as clean negative space, allowing light to pass through and sharpen the floating shadow effect. The thick line weight keeps the silhouette crisp while the interior openings preserve air and motion.

Curator’s Note: Botanical roundels and medallions have appeared across decorative traditions—from carved ornament to graphic emblems—often used to represent wholeness, continuity, and nature’s repeating cycles through simplified plant forms.
