Seaweave Shoal

A shoal is rendered as a unified pattern, where individual fish become part of a larger tide-driven design. The interlocking forms suggest the ocean’s quiet coordination—movement as a shared language, shaped by instinct and the pull of the current.

The design is translated into powder coated metal through continuous contour cutting that preserves each fish as a readable silhouette while allowing the overlaps to create depth and rhythm. The thicker central sweep acts as a stabilizing flow line, and the surrounding fish outlines remain airy to keep the composition visually buoyant. The 1.5 cm offset mount amplifies the floating shadow effect, separating layers of linework into crisp dimensional movement.

Curator’s Note: Schooling is often understood as nature’s geometry of survival—an elegant system where many bodies move as one, forming patterns that appear almost architectural in the sea.
